End of Life, Level 1

Supporting someone approaching the end of their life can be the most challenging work any health and social care worker faces, but it can also be the most rewarding.

The End of Life course focuses on the core principles required to offer support to people at the end of life. It considers knowledge and skills that are core to providing good care, and that are transferable across settings and level of caring responsibilities.

It’s for everyone working in adult social care and health, as well as members of the public – including those accessing end of life care. It aims to promote community development and asset-based approaches to education and training, considering the strengths, abilities and potential of communities in supporting end of life care.

  • Key principles of palliative care and end of life care
  • The principles of good practice within the process of advance care planning
  • The purpose of assessment in end of life care
  • What is included in a holistic assessment
  • The core steps in the assessment of symptoms to reach a diagnosis
  • The principles of good communication in end of life care

    Course Assessment

    A multi choice exam. Upon successful completion, the delegate will be awarded a certificate, which is valid for 1 year.
